On Saturday, July 16th, Fitango Health's CEO and sales & marketing team, participated in the Boomer Esiason Foundation’s Run to Breathe. In our effort to better the health of the population, we took to the pavement to encourage preventive health measures and to recognize those who are valiantly fighting chronic illness.
The four-mile race supports research for a cure for cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a fatal hereditary disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems. The race was instated by former NFL quarterback, Boomer Esiason, in support of his son, Gunnar, who is living with CF. The intention of the Run to Breathe is not only to fund research and a potential cure for CF, but to celebrate living and breathing while encouraging those affected by CF to incorporate exercise into their daily lives.
There were over 5,000 runners in attendance at the event, several of whom are living with CF. This year marks the sixth year that New York Road Runners, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring people through running, has held the Run to Breathe. Fitango Health is proud to have been a part of the event, and we’re looking forward to next year’s. Until then, we’re on the lookout for more races (to indulge in some healthy, inter-office competition), charitable events and opportunities to volunteer. If you have any suggestions for us, or if you need extra hands for your event, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with Run Fitango Health in the subject line.
